My wife didn’t value me and I ended up falling in love with the employee.

For years, I gave everything to my wife—love, stability, and the kind of loyalty that should have meant something. But to her, it never seemed enough.

Sophia had grown distant. At first, I thought it was stress, maybe just the weight of daily life. But then, I noticed the way she barely looked at me anymore. Our conversations became mechanical, limited to responsibilities and schedules.

One evening, as I sat alone at the dinner table while she scrolled through her phone, barely acknowledging my presence, it hit me: I was invisible to my own wife.

An Unexpected Connection

At work, things were different.

There was someone who actually saw me. Her name was Elena. She was one of the employees at my company—hardworking, kind, and always full of life. Every morning, she greeted me with a warm smile, and unlike my wife, she actually listened when I spoke.

At first, it was nothing more than small talk, harmless interactions that brightened my day. But the more I ignored the emptiness at home, the more I noticed how much I craved those moments with her.

One evening, after another argument with Sophia—this time about how I was “too boring” for her fast-paced life—I found myself staying late at the office. Elena was there too, finishing some work.

—You look tired —she said, her voice filled with genuine concern.

—Just… a long day.

—Or maybe a long marriage? —she said with a knowing smile.

I let out a dry laugh.

—Something like that.

A Love I Never Expected

As the weeks passed, our connection deepened. Elena wasn’t just someone who listened—she understood me. She noticed the small things: when I was stressed, when I needed encouragement, when I just needed someone to care.

And one night, when we found ourselves standing too close in the empty office, our gazes locked, I knew.

This wasn’t just friendship.

But I also knew that crossing that line would mean destroying the life I had built.

The Breaking Point

The final straw came when I overheard Sophia on the phone, laughing in a way she hadn’t in years. And then I heard the words that shattered everything:

—Of course, I love spending time with you. My husband? He’s too busy being boring to notice anything.

That was the moment I knew.

I wasn’t the problem. Our marriage was already over—I had just been too blind to see it.

Choosing Myself

I left Sophia. Not because of Elena, but because I deserved more than being someone’s afterthought.

And as for Elena? She didn’t “steal” me from my wife—she reminded me of the love I was worthy of.
